Aida Concept for Act 3

To honour the anniversary of the premiere of Verdi's Aida I have revisited a design for Act 3 I did for it a few years ago.

Aida has always been a source of inspiration to me, combining my love of opera with that of ancient Egypt, a match made in heaven.

Out of the 18+ complete recordings I own I find it hard to name a definitive favourite, though if I had to choose for a 'deserted island' scenario I'd have to go with Karajan's Decca 'Sonic Stage' spectacular with Tebaldi, Bergonzi and Simionato. It has everything- plenty of atmosphere and great performances from three of the finest Verdian singers to grace the stage.
